Frankly, I like this early "Slingshot Dakota" incarnation pretty much, despite the obvious fact that its sound differs radically from the later Comando/Patterson works. To be really honest, I just adore this album, because it's one of the best alternative rock releases I've listened to in a while. Given, it's still Carly Comando's voice and keyboards at the core - but there's Jeff Cunningham as well, who plays a rather prominent guitar, and takes over a significant part of the vocal duties. Moreover, the overall sound is more transparent and not as dark as on "Their Dreams Are Dead, But Ours Is The Golden Ghost!", for instance. I'd even dare to say that most of the songs have a marked tendency towards folk-rock. Besides that, the songwriting is extraordinary as ever.
